Computers for Beginners

My name is Joan. I have been attending the Computers for Beginners course at Christ the Servant Church.

I was very wary of going on the course. I thought I was too old to learn these new fangled gizmos and it was quicker to pick up a piece of paper and a pen. If I wanted any information I went to the library and looked it up in a book.

Now, after six weeks, I feel fully confident to use the computer. Nicole, the tutor, gives you permissin to make mistakes and you are not silly to ask a question that turns out to have an obvious answer.

I would strongly recommend going on the course to anyone who is not confident and not sure of themselves. The group I have been with have been very friendly. We have a good laugh with each other, not at each other.

We all learn at different rates but the course is designed to take this into account. Doing this course has given me the confidence to go on to other courses. I would like to do digitial photography, which is starting later on. Increasingly today if you can't use a computer you are more or less disenfranchised. Every programme or advert gives a www to go to, or a premium rate phone number.

The only complaint I have about the course is that it isn't long enough, I just want to carry on.
