A project in the heart of the community for the community.
The project was developed as a partnership between Christ the Servant Church and Lancashire College and, up until February 2011, was supported by the Big Lottery.
The project was officially launched in March 2008, following three years of work “behind the scenes” by a small steering committee. We are grateful for their vision and all that they achieved.
The initial grant from the Big Lottery enabled the community area of the church to be refurbished, an IT suite to be developed and various items of equipment to be bought. The grant also enabled the project to run for three years.
The project was officially named and the logo was unveiled in July 2008, following a competition in Bishop Martin School. Details of the winning entries can be found here.
In December 2010 the project launched The Teapot Community Cafe. This is a training cafe for adults with learning disabilities, helping them to gain skills for employment. It also offers a good community meeting point, an opportunity to meet with friends and have a chat. The Cafe is open every Wednesday from 2.30 - 4.30pm.
The project is run by a small management committee, which is appointed annually at the AGM. The management committee comprises of:-
A the Chair nominated by the District Church Council , who would usually be the Vicar
B up to five members nominated by the District Church Council
C one member nominated by Lancashire College
D one member nominated to represent learners with learning disabilities
E one member nominated by Bishop Martin School to represent education and training partners in the area of benefit
F up to three members elected by and from Centre user groups
G A minimum of one third of the members to be resident in the ecclesiastical parish of Digmoor
If you would like further information or if you would like to be involved in any way, please contact us.
The AGM is open to all. The next AGM is on Wednesday 25th May at 7pm. All welcome.
